A fabulous citrine and seed pearl necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This silver gilt necklace portrays a large, ornate pendant which hangs from a long chain. The pendant is made of silver gilt and in the shape of heart with ornate and intricate wirework and beadwork throughout. In the center of the heart is a single large oval shaped and faceted citrine stone which is surrounded by a border or 3 rows of natural seed pearls. Hanging from the bottom of the heart are 3 additional citrines, two outer oval shaped stones and a center round stone. In the center, at the top of the heart, are two silver gilt rings which connect to 2 short chains. In the center of the 2 chains is a small 'O' ring which connects to a long sterling silver gilt chain. The chain has a modern gold filled clasp which clasps at the back. The color of the citrines, pearls and silver gilt look simply wonderful together and the necklace is certainly a statement piece. It would make a great addition to any collection!
Measurements: The heart shaped pendant hangs approximately 2 7/8" long, is 2 1/4" at the widest point and 1/4" deep. The drop in the chain measures approximately 1" long, from the center 'O' ring to the 2 soldered rings. The chain measures 21" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain and pendant is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the silver gilt wirework or beadwork or to the citrine stones. All of the stones and seed pearls are intact and the chain clasp is secure and in good working condition.
